Comment on a doc

Leave comments on any part of a doc, discuss them in threads, and share a link that opens a specific comment.

  1. Select the text you want to comment on.
  2. Click Comment in the toolbar that appears above your selection.
  3. Write your comment and click the send arrow.

The comment is anchored to the text you selected, and the thread opens in the Comments tab of the doc sidebar.

Type @ in a comment to mention a teammate. They get a notification that links straight to your comment.

To bring the Falcon agent into the conversation, click the Falcon icon (Ask Falcon) in the comment box.

Click a thread in the Comments tab to open it, then type in the Write a reply… box. People who have taken part in the thread get a notification when you reply.

Hover over the first comment in a thread and click the check mark (Resolve). A Comment resolved message appears with an Undo option in case you resolved it by mistake.

Resolved threads are hidden by default. Use the filter in the Comments tab to switch between Unresolved, Resolved, and All. To reopen a resolved thread, hover over it and click Unresolve.

Hover over one of your own comments and open the More actions menu. Choose Edit or Delete.

Every comment and reply has its own link. Share it in Slack, a ticket, or anywhere else to send people directly to the part of the conversation that matters, instead of the top of the doc.

  1. Open the Comments tab and hover over the comment or reply you want to share.
  2. Open the More actions menu.
  3. Click Copy link.

Falconer copies the link and shows Link copied to clipboard.

When someone opens the link, Falconer opens the doc, opens the Comments tab, and scrolls to the thread. The thread is selected and the commented text is scrolled into view, so the comment and the text it refers to are side by side. A link to a reply opens the thread that contains it.

If the comment has since been deleted, or its thread has been resolved, the doc still opens and Falconer shows This comment is no longer available.

Comment notifications use the same links. Clicking through from your Falconer inbox, an email, or Slack takes you to the comment’s thread, not just the doc.
