Get changes from GitHub

How commits on GitHub reach Falconer, and how to resolve conflicts.

When someone commits to the synced branch, Falconer pulls the changed files into the space automatically. You don’t need to do anything.

  • Documents you haven’t edited in Falconer update in place.
  • New files appear in the space.
  • Moved or renamed files move their documents to match.

To see which commit changed a document, open its version history. Versions pulled from GitHub are labeled GitHub Updates, and versions you pushed are labeled Repo sync. Click the label to open the commit on GitHub.

When a document has unpushed edits in Falconer and its file also changed on GitHub, Falconer merges the two automatically if they touch different parts of the document. A document shows Conflicts only when both sides changed the same part, or both renamed the title.

  1. Click Conflicts on the document, or Resolve on its card in the GitHub sync drawer.
  2. In the review dialog, choose for each conflict:
    • Keep Falconer to keep your version.
    • Accept GitHub to take the version from GitHub.
  3. Click Apply once every conflict has a choice.

To decide the whole document at once, click Keep all Falconer or Accept all GitHub before choosing any individual conflict. This resolves the document immediately, with no Apply step.

The result is saved in Falconer but not pushed. Push the document to send the combined version to GitHub.

When a file is deleted on GitHub, its document shows Deleted.

  • Click Delete in Falconer to remove the document too.
  • Click Keep file to keep the document in Falconer. Your next push recreates the file on GitHub.
