# Comment on a doc

> For the complete documentation index, see [llms.txt](https://falconer.com/docs/llms.txt).

Leave comments on any part of a doc, discuss them in threads, and share a link that opens a specific comment.

Leave comments on any part of a doc, discuss them in threads, and share a link that opens a specific comment.

## Add a comment

1. Select the text you want to comment on.
2. Click **Comment** in the toolbar that appears above your selection.
3. Write your comment and click the send arrow.

The comment is anchored to the text you selected, and the thread opens in the **Comments** tab of the doc sidebar.

## Mention teammates

Type **@** in a comment to mention a teammate. They get a notification that links straight to your comment.

To bring the Falcon agent into the conversation, click the Falcon icon (**Ask Falcon**) in the comment box.

## Reply to a thread

Click a thread in the **Comments** tab to open it, then type in the **Write a reply...** box. People who have taken part in the thread get a notification when you reply.

## Resolve a thread

Hover over the first comment in a thread and click the check mark (**Resolve**). A **Comment resolved** message appears with an **Undo** option in case you resolved it by mistake.

Resolved threads are hidden by default. Use the filter in the **Comments** tab to switch between **Unresolved**, **Resolved**, and **All**. To reopen a resolved thread, hover over it and click **Unresolve**.

## Edit or delete a comment

Hover over one of your own comments and open the **More actions** menu. Choose **Edit** or **Delete**.

## Share a link to a comment

Every comment and reply has its own link. Share it in Slack, a ticket, or anywhere else to send people directly to the part of the conversation that matters, instead of the top of the doc.

### Copy a comment link

1. Open the **Comments** tab and hover over the comment or reply you want to share.
2. Open the **More actions** menu.
3. Click **Copy link**.

Falconer copies the link and shows **Link copied to clipboard**.

### Open a comment link

When someone opens the link, Falconer opens the doc, opens the **Comments** tab, and scrolls to the thread. The thread is selected and the commented text is scrolled into view, so the comment and the text it refers to are side by side. A link to a reply opens the thread that contains it.

If the comment has since been deleted, or its thread has been resolved, the doc still opens and Falconer shows **This comment is no longer available**.

### Links in notifications

Comment notifications use the same links. Clicking through from your Falconer inbox, an email, or Slack takes you to the comment's thread, not just the doc.

| Notification | When you get it |
| --- | --- |
| **Mentions in comments** | Someone @-mentions you in a comment |
| **Comments on documents you own** | Someone starts a new comment thread on a document you created |
| **Replies in threads you participated in** | Someone replies in a thread you joined |

Choose which channels each notification uses under **Settings** > **Notifications**.
